Arturo Uslar Pietri and his wife, Isabel Braun de Uslar.

Arturo was nominated several times for the Nobel Prize for Literature and won many distinguished writing awards, including Principe de Asturias. He is best known for Las Lanzas Coloradas, hailed  as a literary masterpiece.

His wife, Isabel, was a devoted wife and mother to their two boys, Federico, the elder, and Arturito.
